Having written my travelogue to Hampi and Dubai visited by me during 2018 which was well received  by many readers, I wish to post my experiences of travel to Malaysia and Singapore in the year 2010. Except a few photos taken from Google Images, all other photos in this article were taken by me in Canon Camera.

Preparation for the visit:

Getting VISAs for the journey:

After my retirement in June 2010, my son who was working in Malaysia wanted me and my wife to make a short visit to Malaysia and Singapore for sightseeing. We planned to start to Malaysia from Chennai on 20.8.2010 and return from Singapore to Chennai on 26.8.2010. After booking the flight tickets, I went to a Travel Agency for getting VISAs for both Malaysia and Singapore visits. On the day of getting the visas from the Travel Agency , my car broke down on the way and after one hour struggle it started. Since the air conditioner in the car was not working the driver drove the car keeping all the windows opened. I felt uneasy with  winds of lot of pressure hitting my ears.

Vertigo attack:

On the next day morning when  I tried to get up from the bed, I felt that the room was spinning around me.( I had a doubt if it had happened due to the entry of lot of air inside my ears with so much force.) It happened many times and I was taken  to a Doctor by my wife and the landlord of the house where I was staying. Doctor advised me to undergo many tests including MRI. Even during the tests by the doctor and during various tests conducted in the Clinic, I was unable to lie down due to the dizzy feeling and I was unable to walk steadily. All the tests conducted showed nothing wrong with me. After seeing the reports the doctor diagnosed my illness as Vertigo and prescribed medicines. My wife asked the doctor if I could go for the trip to Malaysia, he said that we could visit and continue to take the medicines.

So during the entire trip to Malaysia and Singapore I was suffering from Vertigo problem though not severe as on the first day of attack. But I could manage to walk and see the places visited by us without much difficulty.

Trip to Malaysia:

On 20.8.2000  myself and my wife boarded Jet Airways and after three hours journey reached Kuala Lumpur. We were received by our son at the Airport and he took us to Cyber View Resort and Spa in Cyber Jaya  where he had booked room for our stay. (Cyberview Resort & Spa is a 5-star boutique resort, a veritable paradise set on 28.8 acre of award-winning landscaped gardens, featuring world-class quality of service and unparalleled Malaysian hospitality. Surrounded by towering palm trees, lush foliage, splendid tropical gardens, and meandering paths, the resort effortlessly blends rustic charm and with its state-of-the-art comforts in all its one hundred and twelve lovely chalets, suites and bungalows. )

For further information and  booking  http://www.cyberviewresort.com/.

The resort's location and environment was very beautiful with plenty of  flower plants and trees.

Cottage in the resort where we stayed
After taking rest in the room,we boarded a train in Kuala Lumpur railway station to go to Kota Bharu where my wife's sister's daughter and her husband were practicing as doctors. Kota Bharu is about 450 kms from Kuala Lumpur and we had to travel through forest area with tall trees and we enjoyed watching the beauty of the nature.
On the way to Kota Bharu

The nearest railway station to Kota Bharu is called Wakaf Bharu which is just a couple of kilometres to the west of the city. My sister in law's daughter came to the station to receive us and took us to her house.

Sight seeing on 21.8.2010

After a good night sleep ,next day we visited some Buddha temples.

Wat Phothivihan :About 15km from Kota Bharu, this temple houses what is claimed to be one of the longest reclining Buddha in the world. At 40m long, it is even longer than the reclining Buddha housed in the more famous Wat Chayamangkalaram in Penang.

In another Buddha temple visited by us  was at Wat Machimmaram where we could see a tall sitting Buddha

After visiting the buddha temples and some shopping in Kota Bahru we returned to Kuala Lumpur on 23.8.2010 by train.

Sight seeing on 23.8.2010 in Kuala Lumpur:

On 23.8.2010 morning after taking breakfast in the Resort we went to Putra Jaya Railway station and took a train to go to Kuala Lumpur. We visited The Petronas Towers, also known as the Petronas Twin Towers, are twin skyscrapers. We went inside the tower and spent some time in watching  a music program.

In the evening we went to see Putra Mosque in Putra Jaya. It is located next to the Perdana Putra, which houses the Malaysian Prime Minister's office and man-made Putrajaya Lake. In front of the mosque is a large square with flagpoles flying Malaysian states' flags.

We also saw the Seri Wawasan Bridge which is  the most elegant of the bridges in Putrajaya. Its futuristic design combines cable back stays and standard steel tie backs. Its curvaceous and slender profile is easily visible from many vantage points in the city. At night the bridge is illuminated with changing coloured lights. The bridge is 240m long and the main span is 168m long. There are 102 cables used in its construction.https://www.malaysia-traveller.com/bridges-in-putrajaya.html

Sight seeing on 24.8.2010
On 24.8.2010 we went to the famous Batu Caves Hill temple of Lord Muruga. Batu Caves in short also referred as 10th Caves or Hill for Lord Muruga as there are six important holy shrines in India and four more in Malaysia. The three others in Malaysia are Kallumalai Temple in Ipoh, Tanneermalai Temple in Penang and Sannasimalai Temple in Malacca.(Wikipedia)

While we could worship the deities at the bottom of the hill and saw the tall Muruga Idol, I was unable to climb the steps of the hill due to vertigo problem to see the deity on the top of the hill .

Travel to Singapore on 24.8.2010 by train:
On 24.8.2010 night we boarded the train at Sentral station Kuala Lumpur  to reach Singapore. I was surprised to see the railway station at Kuala Lumpur looked like a airport in appearance and maintenance:
Sentral station in Kuala Lumpur

We traveled in sleeper berth coach and slept well. Basic amenities in the train were just like the amenities available in India, The train stopped in one station in the middle of night when all the passengers had to get down from the train for stamping the Passport at the Immigration counters in the train. After the formalities of immigration check up we had to board the train again which reached Singapore next day early morning after about 9 hours journey.

On reaching Singapore Station we were picked up by my friend and bank colleague Mr.Moreira who was kind enough to accommodate us in his house. After taking breakfast we went for sightseeing by one of the tourist bus Duck and Hippo tour

We rode around the city sitting on top of the bus  covering sites such as Chinatown, Little India, Botanical Garden. We could listen to commentary as we passed the most important landmarks in the city.

We got down at  the Botanical garden where we could see many beautiful flower plants and trees.

After visiting the Botanical gardens we visited a Hindu Temple and worshiped the deity there.

We also had the experience of going round in the  Singapore Flyer Ferris Wheel which is  one of the tallest Ferris wheels in the world. Standing in the glass capsule on the Singapore Flyer, we could gaze out upon sights including the sculptures springing out from Gardens by the Bay and the gleaming architecture of the Marina Bay Sands. It was really a thrilling experience for us.

During the end of the day after taking our dinner we spent some time sitting in a place watching the illuminated buildings  and the laser shows from the high rise buildings.

Return to Chennai on 26.8.2010

After completing our trip to Singapore  on  26th Morning we reached Changi Airport, Singapore which is  one of the largest transportation hubs in Southeast Asia.

Featured post on IndiBlogger, the biggest community of Indian Bloggers

During the year end of 2018, I had a surprise Gift by my son who arranged a sudden trip to Dubai(from 28.12.18 to 2.1.19)  to celebrate my birthday and New Year beginning. He arranged Flight tickets /VISAs for me,my wife and himself in a very short time. The details of our trip are given below in chronological order. The photos uploaded here, except the photos of Rotana Hotel and Palm Jumeirah island , were taken by me in my Redmi A6 Pro mobile and by my son in his Iphone X.

Flight to Dubai from Bengaluru: 28.12.18

My son booked tickets by  Emirate Flight EK 565  in Economy Class from Bengaluru International Airport to Dubai on 28.12.18 departure at 10.25 am. When we reached the Emirates Counter to get boarding passes, my son was approached by an Executive of Emirates Airline and offered to change the tickets in Business Class at a discounted rate. Immediately my son agreed and upgraded the tickets to Business Class. It was the first opportunity for me and my wife to travel in the Business Class which we enjoyed very much with the extra comforts available.

After reaching Dubai Airport at 1pm (Dubai time), we had to go to another part of Terminal 3 by a Train for completing Immigration process and Baggage clearance.

On reaching Dubai Airport, we were met by Marhaba Service Executive who arranged for VISA on arrival for my son and Immigration Checking in a very short time. In the absence of their Service we would have spent at least two hours to complete the process in view of big queues in front of the VISA and Immigration counters.(Marhaba is an exclusive meet and greet service that makes the airport something to look forward to—for you, your clients or your loved ones. From fast-track clearance through arrivals or departures to helping with transfers, baggage and family travel, we ensure a swift, smooth and safe passage through the airport."Marhaba" is an Arabic words, it is used in middle east to greet people, as Hello in English and Namaste in Hindi. The literal meaning of marhaba is as per it's Syriac origin is: Mar: Master or God. Haba:Love. Marhaba: God is love.)

After clearing our baggage, we were met by Mr.Abdul, a Driver cum car owner who was engaged by my son for our travel in Dubai from 28.12.18 to 2.1.19. He took us by his car to Al Bandar Rotana, a five star Hotel in Dubai Creek.

It is part of a larger series of developments called the Palm Islands, including Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira), which, when completed, will together increase Dubai's shoreline by a total of 520 kilometres (320 mi). It is located on the Jumeirah coastal area of the emirate of Dubai  Wikipedia).

Sight seeing in Abu Dhabi and Dubai on 29.12.18

On 29.12 18 after taking breakfast in the Hotel, we proceeded to Abu Dhabi ( 140 kms from Dubai)by car. On the way we could see many skyscrapers in different shapes. On reaching Abu Dhabi , visited first Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque which is  one of the world’s largest mosques, and the only one that captures unique interactions between Islam and world cultures. Sheikh Zayed's vision for the Grand Mosque was to incorporate architectural styles from different Muslim civilizations and celebrate cultural diversity by creating a haven that is truly diverse and inspirational in its foundation. The mosque’s architects were British, Italian and Emirati, and design inspiration was borrowed parts of Turkey, Morocco, Pakistan, and Egypt among other Islamic countries, revealing a glistening architectural marvel with an astonishing capacity of 40,000 worshipers and visitors. In view of the huge crowd of people visiting from all over the world, there is a big queue in the mosque regulated by security guards every where. The mosque is magnificent in every aspect of architecture, size and design. Some of the pictures captured by me are posted below:

Sight seeing in  Dubai on 30.12.18

Miracle Garden:  Our first visit for sight seeing was to Dubai Miracle Garden.(
Dubai  Miracle Garden        was launched on Valentine’s Day, 2013, and is set in the heart of Dubailand.
Seeing the garden in full bloom with its 150 million flowers arranged in colourful arches and patterns, and the myriad shapes they form, is truly magnificent. Dubai Miracle Garden’s breathtaking landscaping has earned two Guinness World Records for the largest vertical garden in 2013 and world’s largest floral sculpture forming the shape of an Airbus A380 in 2016.  https://www.dubaimiraclegarden.com/ )

We were enthralled to see the magnificent Miracle Garden which has all types of flowers and plants beautifully arranged in different shapes viz Disney cartoon characters, Houses,Animals, Bus,Aeroplane etc. There are many eatouts in the Garden with benches ,chairs etc to sit and relax. As in other places there was huge crowd of peoples from different parts of the world to enjoy the beauty of the Garden.
I post below some of the pictures taken in the Garden:

Desert:
After enjoying the visit to Miracle Garden, we proceeded to have a glimpse of the Desert outside Dubai. On the way we could see small mountains which are actually, the garbage collected and dumped by Trucks.
Green mountain formed by Garbage dumped

We could also see  on the way two places where Confiscated vehicles were dumped.
  Confiscated vehicles Yard
Finally we reached the beginning of the desert but did not venture to go for Desert safari.
Our driver by oversight drove the car in the sands of the desert and the front tyres were struck in the sands. After struggling to take the car out for some time, luckily a Gentleman from Oman after seeing our flight came to our rescue. He towed our car with his car and pulled out the vehicle. It was really an anxious and  thrilling experience for us.

Sight seeing in Dubai on 31.12.1918

On 31.12.18 we shifted to Asiana Hotel since my son extended the stay for further three days and rooms were not available in Hotel Rotana.

After taking rest till noon, we wanted to see the Fireworks of Burj Khalifa. Since we were told that there would be huge rush near the tower, we decided to watch the fireworks from a distance. We selected a place near the famous Dubai frame.

The Dubai Frame is an architectural landmark in Zabeel Park, Dubai. It has been described by The Guardian newspaper as "the biggest picture frame on the planet"The Dubai Frame is created out of glass, steel, aluminum, and reinforced concrete. It is positioned in such a way that representative landmarks of modern Dubai can be seen on one side, while from the other side, visitors can also view older parts of the city.(Wikipedia)

Watching the Dubai Frame very close itself was amazing due to the frequent change of colour of the frame. I post below some of the pictures of the building with different colours.

We could see Burj Khalifa within the Frame at a far distance. When the time was approaching 12 pm for the beginning of the Fireworks, a huge crowd of people gathered near the Frame and standing on the nearby bridge and flyover. At sharp 12 pm we could see the Fireworks (but it was not so impressive since we saw it from a far place)and people gathered there started to shout Happy New year.

Sight seeing in Dubai on 1.1.2019

On the morning of 1.1.2019 we went for shopping in Dragon Mall .
Water fountain in front of Dragon Mall
After taking lunch and rest in the Hotel we went to Jumeirah Beach. The Jumeirah Beach is particularly famous for its white sands. The soft and clear, fine granules let your feet sink right in. We could see a lot of tourists in the beach and many sea gulls were flying there. We could also see beautiful flower plants.

We also enjoyed a spectacular sunset  view of the seven-star Burj-Al-Arab in Dubai, and the stunning monument is set against Dubai’s coast and is a sight to marvel at.

After visiting the beach, we went for shopping again in roadside shops  near the place where many decorated boats /some of them with restaurants were taking passengers for boat rides.
